Wednesday 9th February – bike **** – Around Felixstowe including lunch
at Trimley Churches– cloudy, mild with light winds.
After yesterdays windsurf in beautiful weather, I had one eye on the
forecast today but although mild it was mainly cloudy with the wind
marginal at best, then dropping light in the afternoon. So, as I am not
great at walking at the moment due to a dodgy heel it was another bike
ride. So, the morning was spent at home, me doing my exercises while Mag
had a big bake-up. Then we made a flask for our favourite Bovril and we set
off on a mystery tour as I did not tell Mag where we were going??? First
stop was Argos to pick up some rechargeable batteries then onto the woods
at The Grove, thankfully pretty mud free, it is always nice to see the
trees, a couple of squirrels and loads of noisy crows:) Out onto Gulpher
Road turning left to Candlet Lane, the sight of all the building work in
full swing on the old horse paddocks is absolutely heart-breaking:( Its
along way across Candlet Lane but so quiet, in fact we see very few people
during the whole bike ride:) Reaching Trimley High Road to take a right to
the two churches built within 100m of each other, we have always wondered
why the churches are so close together? Although we have driven or rode
past these churches 100,s of times we have never gone in. It was lovely
too; the huge graveyard was absolutely full of big snowdrops with the
daffodils coming through too although not in bloom yet! We found a bench in
the middle of the two churches for our lovely Bovril after taking loads of
pics of the flowers:) Although cloudy it was very pleasant relaxing with
lunch and had a nice chat with a lady walking her dog with stunning blue
eyes, she told us assorts juicy snippets about the local area including why
there was two churches, apparently it was a failing between a brother and
sister, Mary and Martin hence the name of the two villages and we were
actually sitting right on the border! Well rested we crossed the huge
footbridge over the railway line spotting the white deer in the distance!
We made a small detour to see the deer once again in the three-tree field
munching cauliflowers, always great to see them, quite a big herd too:)
Then back through the tree lined track to Felixstowe and have to stop to
pump up my tire! Home for a cuppa and a freshly baked rock, yum yum :)
PS – after taking some pics of Maggie’s garden this morning I got one
on ITV,s About Anglia weather :) and got two pics in the local paper, the
Star too – top day all round !!!
